Phyllis E. Stevens, 94, Blue Springs, Mo., died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6 from 10-11 a.m. at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel. Funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at the High Prairie Methodist Church with burial in the High Prairie Cemetery.

Phyllis was born on Nov. 16, 1916 in Altoona, to Ernest and Bertha Travis. She attended Vilas High School and Pittsburg State Teachers College.Phyllis taught for four years in Wilson County at Sorghum Valley School. She married Roy A. Stevens on July 26, 1939. Phyllis lived in the Kansas City area from 1941 through 2011. She was a member of the Beaumont Baptist Church for 70 years.

Phyllis was preceded in death by a son, Richard Roy Stevens, and her husband, Roy. She is survived by her children, Gordon and Sandra Stevens, Lee’s Summit, Mo., Darlene and Richard Barber, Columbia, Md., and Kathleen and Logan Pettengill-Wood, Reidsville, Ga.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
