Elizabeth “Betty” L. Stockebrand, 78, died Friday, April 1, 2011 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Betty was born April 3, 1932 in Toronto, the daughter of Paul and Luella Hatcher Gustin.

In February 1949, Betty was united in marriage to Charles Sowder. He preceded her in death in December 1974. On August 4, 1977 Betty was united in marriage to Gerald “Deed” Stockebrand at the United Methodist Church in Yates Center.

Betty lived in the Toronto area before moving to Yates Center in 1977. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Yates Center.

Betty is survived by her husband, Deed Stockebrand, of the home; two sons, Carey Sowder, Eureka, and Larry Stockebrand, Yates Center; five daughters, Jana Slagle, Bakersville, N.C., Rhonda Trahan, Topeka, Susan Mulsow, Iola, Annette Van Anne. Chanute, and Karen Rienbolt, Fort Scott; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a one brother, Kenneth Gustin, Highland, Ill.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 4 at the United Methodist Church in Yates Center. The family suggests memorials be made to the United Methodist Church or the Yates Center Senior Center and sent in care of Campbell Funeral Home, P.O. Box 188, Yates Center, KS 66783.
