Timothy W. “Redd” Smith, 49, Chanute, died Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical shortly after admission.

Timothy Smith was born Nov. 11, 1961 in Torrance, Calif., the son of Alton and Janet Kapitain Goff. He was raised by his stepfather Floyd Cooper, Jr. He attended and graduated from Granby, Mo., High School. After his schooling, he served with the United States Army. He worked as a welder and in construction throughout his life time and was a professional hunting guide and taught Hunter Safety Education Classes. He moved to Chanute about a year ago.

He is survived by his companion of 10 years, Diana Smith, of the home; a son, Rusty Goff, Columbus; a daughter, Amber Deutenberg, Chanute; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Huffman, Cherokee; and five grandchildren.

Graveside service will 2 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call to register at the cemetery at service time. Services are under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.
