Larry B. Clarke, 64, Yates Center, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at his home.
He was born March 23, 1944, in Rose Hill to Glenn W. and Vona “Babe” Mott Clarke. He graduated from Yates Center High School in 1962.
He married Karen L. Scheibmeir on March 14, 1964, in Eureka. She survives.
He was employed with Brilke Motor Co., and Burkhart Manufacturing, both in Yates Center.
Other survivors include two sons, Larry Todd Clarke, Wichita, and Kleet Edward Clarke, Yates Center; two daughters, Lanette Carder, Eudora, and Cinda Bell-Stull, Stafford, Va.; five grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Vona “Babe” and Elmer Hemphill, rural Yates Center; two brothers, Randall and Bill Clarke, both of Yates Center; a sister, Betty Bratcher, Buffalo; a stepbrother, Elmer “Junior” Hemphill, Olathe; and five stepsisters, Carol, Ann, Naomi, Charlotte and Carlene.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Clark; and a stepfather, Monroe Coy.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Yates Center. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery south of Yates Center under the direction of Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
Visitation will be today at the funeral home and after 10 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Yates Center.
Contributions may be made to a college fund for Mr. Clarke’s grandchildren.
