Robert was born Sept. 14, 1950 at the Johnson Hospital in Chanute, the son of Robert R. and Leora L. Swink McCready. He graduated from Chanute High School.
He worked in Chanute at Chanute Campers and Nu-Wa Industries, and Rhino in Holton. He was self-employed in Topeka running a mobile diner before moving back to Chanute in 2001.
Robert was a member of the Chanute Sons of the American Legion.
He is survived by his father, Robert; a brother, Roger of Chanute; a sister, Sharon K. of Topeka; an aunt, Clara Dougherty of Thayer; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Thomas Lee.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9 at the Thayer Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Thayer Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
Memorials in his name may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation and may be left with the funeral home.
