Bernice Busby, 79, Altoona, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha.

Funeral services, under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at the Grace Baptist Church in Neodesha.  Interment will be in Altoona Cemetery.  Friends may call to register from noon to 8 p.m. today, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. this evening.

The family has suggested memorials to Grace Baptist Church or to Castaways in Chanute.

Bernice Evans was born on Dec. 27, 1931 to James and Otha Hughes Evans in Henryetta, Okla.  She graduated from Altoona High School.  On Dec. 24, 1948 she married Lowell L. Busby in Dewar, Okla.  He preceded her in death on May 2, 2006.

The couple lived all of their married life in the Altoona area, 32 years of which were spent on the family farm east of Altoona.  Bernice later went on to work for several years in housekeeping at Beverly Health & Rehab in Neodesha.

Survivors include four sons, Bruce Busby, St. Paul, Brent Busby, Humboldt, Brian Busby, Topeka, Brett Busby, Chanute; two daughters, Kay Davis, Chanute, and Beverly Flessner, Altoona; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
