Max was born in Chanute on Oct. 12, 1954, the son of Raymond E. and Katherine M. Bartholomew Brown. He attended Chanute Schools and Neosho County Community College.
He held various jobs in the area including the Chanute Airport, Kustom Electronics and Chanute Communications before becoming disabled in the mid 1970s.
Max is survived by his siblings, David J. Brown, Pueblo, Colo., Dolores A. Goodnough, Rowland Heights, Calif., Karen K. Griffith and her husband, Von, El Dorado, Phyllis J. Truster, Pittsburg, Ralph R. Brown and his wife, Martha, Erie, Katherine M. Stanislaus and her husband, Don, Chanute; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Fred Raymond Brown, and a sister, Araminta Schoonover.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 18 at the First Christian Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel.
