Gertrude L. Shea, 93, Chanute, died Friday, April 15, 2011 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.

Gertrude Lucille Shea was born Dec. 19, 1917 at Alpena County, Mich., the daughter of George and Bertha Case White. She attended schools in Fenton, Mich.

She worked in the dietary department of Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center for 10 years.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was active in the quilting group of the church. She also worked as a gray lady at the hospital and was a 4-H Leader.

On Feb. 13, 1937 at Alpena, Mich., she was united in marriage to Karl M. Shea. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1971. Survivors include two sons, Karl Shea, Edon, Ohio, and James Shea, Chanute; a daughter, Shirley Hahn, Louisville, Ky.; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Karl and two sisters.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 21 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel, the Rev. Daniel Ramsey, pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church of Chanute, officiating.

Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery in Alpena, Mich.

The family has suggested memorials to the Zion Lutheran Church of Chanute and will be received at the funeral home.
