Christopher James Scaletta, 30, formerly of Chanute, died Saturday, April 16.

Chris was born Nov. 20, 1980 in Chanute. He was the son of James Anthony and Ida Armenda Kay Scalletta and the late Pamela Ann Pearman.

Chris loved the outdoors. His hobbies included fishing and reptiles. He was a very caring person, taking care of any animal he came across that needed help.

Chris was the proud father of Abigayle Phae Marie Scaletta, 5, and Isaac James Scaletta, 4, both of Nowata, Okla. He was the brother of Anthony Paul Scaletta, DeSoto, Stephanie LeeAnn Scaletta-Henderson, Precious Renee Scaletta and Cynthia Marie Scaletta, all of Chanute. He was the grandson of Sharon Kay McGowen and the uncle of Hagen William Henderson and Madala Ann Marie Farmer. He had many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Ann Pearman; a sister, Phalen Nicole Daniels; grandparents, Benjamin and Donna Pearman,, Joseph Scaletta and Margaret Walters, and Melvin “Bud” McGowen.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30 at First Presbyterian Church, Main and Steuben, the Rev. Shelly Holle officiating. Afterwards the family will have a private memorial at the cemetery.
