Margie was born in Earlton on Nov. 21, 1925, the daughter of Claude and Mable Wiles Carter. She graduated from Altoona Rural High School in 1943.
She worked in the office for Sinclair Oil Company in Independence for 20 years and Calvert’s in Independence for 10 years.
She was also an avid bowler, loved photographing family and friends, embroidery, and hosting family for dinners. Margie also did a lot of genealogy for her family’s history.
Margie is survived by a brother, Gale Carter and his wife, Retha, Chanute; a sister, Glenna Erbe and her husband, Monte, of Altoona: nieces and nephews, Danny Erbe, Mike Erbe, Kenny Carter, Phil Carter, Jim Carter, Leeann Treloggen, Connie Murrill and Lynn Carter; great-nieces and nephews, Sarah Myers, Jerrad Myers, Rob Carter, Matt Carter, Regina Bogle, Casey Carter, Dakota Carter, Caden Carter, Chance Carter, and Laura Erbe; great-great-nieces and nephews, Mackenzie LeRoy, Tessa Leach, Nate Carter, Kearstyn Bogle, and Preston Bogle.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Dean Carter; a great-nephew Scott Carter and a great-niece Ashley Carter.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. today, April 27 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute. Burial will follow in the Altoona Cemetery.
Memorials in her name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and may be left with the funeral home.
