Wayne was born in rural Thayer on Feb. 28, 1927, the son of Paris Arthur and Louise Madison Dougherty. He attended schools in Thayer.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Wayne was united in marriage to Georgeann “Ann” Reece on Dec. 21, 1953. She preceded him in death in September 1991. He was later united in marriage to Clara May McCready Barker on May 7, 1994. She survives, of the home.
He was a custom harvester who worked in the central part of the United States for many years.
Along with his wife, Clara May, he is survived by two sons, Curtis Dougherty, Parsons, and Jim Barker, Cornith, Texas; two daughters, Ruth Lloyd, Hutchinson, and Jeanine Tos, Wichita; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clifford Dougherty, Glendale, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Georgeann.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at the Thayer United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Thayer United Methodist Church and may be left with the funeral home.
