She was born Dec. 17, 1919 in Chanute, to John and Virtha Scantlin Gilmore. She grew up in the Chanute area, attending Neosho County Little Friend School and graduated from Chanute High School.
She joined the Navy WAVES.
She married Earnest L. Moon on Feb. 9, 1947 in Urbana. He preceded her in death in October 1966. She later married Ollie V. Padgett April 2, 1982 in Coffeyville. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1994.
She was a longtime member of First Christian Church.
She is survived by sons Frank Moon, Kearney, Mo., Dick Padgett, Bartlesville, Okla., brothers Jim Gilmore, Spokane, Wash., Keith Gilmore, Starkville, Miss.; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 6 at Fairview Veterans Patio. Penwell-Gabel Coffeyville in charge of arrangements.
