Maxine was born in Chanute on Feb. 2, 1926, the daughter of Earl and Ada Stevenson Hedden.
Maxine was united in marriage to Catelino Verdin.
She proudly served her country in the Womens Army Corps (WAC).
Maxine is survived by a son, Richard Verdin and his wife, Joyce; daughters, Linda Lopez and Melodee Hughes and her husband, Vernon Hughes; three brothers, Robert Hedden and his wife, Sherry, Wrighwood, Calif., Steve Hedden and his wife, Cheryle, Chanute, and Richard Hedden and his wife, Margaret, Chanute; grandchildren, Lisa Borjas and husband, Tim, Robert Lopez and wife, Laura,Neodesha, Laura Ortiz and husband, Wade, Shrev eport, La., Felicia Weaver and husband, Wes, Michelle Ortiz, Danelle Norten and her husband, Roger, Tianna Hughes and Shera Hughes, Kansas City, Angie Dye and husband, Casey, and Phillip Verdin; 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Michelle, a great-grandson, two sisters, Elinor Mangan and Dorthy John, four brothers, Earl Hedden, John Hedden, Dean Hedden and Bill Hedden.
Rosary will be recited by Father Bernard Gorges on Thursday, June 30 at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 1 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Military honors will be presented by the Chanute Honor Guard.
Memorials in her name may be made to Castaways Animal Shelter and may be left with the funeral home.
