Mary Miles, 85, Chanute, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Mary was born in Chanute on April 22, 1926, the daughter of Harry and Myrtle Miller Allen. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1943. She later married Dale Miles on June 25, 1943 in Yates Center. They were married for 62 years until his death on September 2, 2004.

Mary and Dale loved to travel. They visited all 50 states and several countries around the world. She loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren and playing bridge. She was a member of the Chanute Gem and Mineral Society.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Patricia Hutinett, Georgetown, Fla.; three granddaughters, Melissa Vollenweider and her husband, Mark, Cassville, Mo., Malinda Hutinett and her husband, Bill Dokey, Buffalo, N.Y., and Mary Hutinett-Stover and her husband, Terry, Olathe; nine great-grandchildren, Brittany, Cari and Kelsey Vollenweider, Cassville, Mo., Patrick and Carolyn Dokey, Buffalo, N.Y., and Elizabeth, Andrew, Benjamin and Michael Stover, Olathe; and two brothers, Dale Allen and Wendell Allen, Chanute.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Merle and Everett Allen.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 30 at First United Methodist Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.

She will lie in state today from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.

Memorials in her name may be made to the donor’s choice and may be left with the funeral home.
