Ralph L. Adelgren, age 73, Fremont, Neb., died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Fremont Area Medical Center.

He was born June 1, 1938 in Buffalo, to Henry and Wilma Johnson Adelgren. He grew up in Buffalo and graduated from Vilas High School in Buffalo, in 1956. He received his Bachelor’s degree in agricultural science from Kansas State University in 1963. He worked in construction in Manhattan to pay for his education. After college he lived in Austin, Minn., for five years and then moved to Fremont in 1968. Ralph married Kandida “Kandy” Hall on Dec.r 26, 1975 in Fremont. He was employed at Hormel for more than 35 years as an engineer in the Quality Control department. When Ralph retired from Hormel in July of 1998, he returned to work in the construction business.

Ralph was a member of the Fremont Alliance Church, sang on their worship team and was trustee chairman for the church. He was a member of the Pathfinder Chorus, the Toastmasters, and the Valley View Senior Golf League, all at Fremont.

Survivors include his wife, Kandy; son Todd Adelgren and wife, Christina, Kennard, Neb.; daughters Emily Hawkins, Omaha, Neb., Tamara Dunn and husband, John, West Sacramento, Calif., Kim Wear, Omaha, Neb., and Carla Broce, Miami, Fla.; brother George Adelgren and wife, Gorda, Goodland; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Johnny and Robert Adelgren.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 25 at Fremont Alliance Church, the Rev. Roger Eng will officiate. There is no visitation, however, family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the service at church.

Memorials may be directed to the Fremont Alliance Church for missions, or the Pathfinder Chorus of Fremont, or friends may give a blood donation in his memory.
