Janice Killion, 75, formerly of Salina, died Sunday, July 28, 2011 at KU Medical Center.

Killion was born Janice O. Strubhart on March 25, 1936, in LaHarpe.

She graduated from Pittsburg State University with a degree in Secondary Education. She  taught for many years in the Topeka and Salina schools, retiring in 2002.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Frances Cunningham Strubhart and Oliver E. Strubhart.

She married James C. Killion on Sept. 6, 1957, in Chanute. He currently resides in Olathe.

Other survivors include a son, Mike Killion and wife, Maura, Topeka; a daughter, Mindy Killion, Olathe, and four grandchildren, Claire Clarke and husband, Derrick, Gainesville, Fla., Iain and Nina Killion. Topeka, Chase Killion, Olathe.

A private family service is planned for a later date in Olathe.

Jan will be missed by many Chanute people. She was in the Class of 1954 and truly was a "friend to all."
