Pat was born in Kackley on April 29, 1931, the son of Morris and Eva O’Brien McGregor. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1946, and later graduated from Pittsburg State Teacher’s College in 1956 with a Master’s degree in Education.
He served his country in the United States Army from 1952 until his discharge in 1954.
He was united in marriage to JoAnne Edwards on March 15, 1953 in Chanute. They later divorced.
Pat was self-employed as a custom hay baler until 1986. He then worked as a KCC oil rig inspector until his retirement.
He is survived by a son, Scott McGregor, Lawrence; a daughter, Lori McGregor, Yates Center; three grandchildren, Ian, Keegan and Callahan McGregor, all of Lawrence; a sister, Kathy McGregor, Tulsa, Okla.; and a brother, Larry McGregor, Scottsdale, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert McGregor.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 5 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Chanute.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Prairie Mission Retirement Village or the charity of the donor’s choice and may be left with the funeral home.
