Darrell was born in Pittsburg on August 13, 1958, the son of Herman and Flo Dinkel Honas. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1976. He also attended Neosho County Community College in Chanute.
Darrell worked at Gates Rubber Company for 27 years.
He married Linda Frederick on May 12, 1984 in Chanute. She survives.
He enjoyed all sports and especially playing slow pitch softball and coaching youth league ball teams. He also enjoyed hunting.
Darrell is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, Josh and Andrew Honas, Humboldt; his mother, Flo Honas, Chanute; and one brother, Norman Honas and his wife, Kristi, Clive, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Honas, and one brother, R. Dean Honas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt. Burial will follow in DeWitt Cemetery, west of Humboldt.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. in the Parish Center at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Memorials in his name may be made to an Educational Fund for Josh and Andrew Honas and may be left with the funeral home.
