Vicki was born in Des Moines, Iowa on Sept. 13, 1954 the daughter of Elmer E. and Charlotte Ann Butler Hickman. She graduated from Olathe High School in 1972. She married Leroy Chard on April 30, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nev.
She loved children and especially spending time with her grandson. Her love of children led her to volunteer with many local organizations including The FireEscape Coffee House, Cherry Street Youth Center, and the Faith House
Vicki is survived by her husband, Leroy Chard; one son Json Harris and fiancée, Tamara, Chanute, and her daughter Jordon; one grandson, Cameron Harris, Chanute; her mother, Charlotte Hickman, Olathe; two brothers, Kirk Hickman and wife, Patty, Olathe, and Kreg Hickman and wife, Susan, Bradenton, Fla.; three sisters, Frankie Doles, Gardner, Kathy Naylor and husband, John, Wellsville, and Kristy Adams and husband, George, Olathe; her mother-in-law, Doris Strean, Chanute; two brothers-in-law, Billy Chard and wife, Jeanie, Chanute, and Leon Chard, Woodland, Texas; one sister-in-law, Betty Ryan and her husband, Frank, Mission; and sixteen nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.
