Gary Talmadge Wheatley, 43, died Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Geary Community Hospital in Junction City.
Gary was born in Chanute on July 20, 1968, the son of Thomas Patrick and Billie Maxine Solomon Wheatley. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1986 and received a Master’s Degree from Kansas State University in Agronomy.
He was united in marriage to Stacey Chapman. They later divorced.
Gary worked in fertilizer sales and agriculture services.
He enjoyed cooking, gardening, and riding his Harley.
Gary is survived by his parents, Pat and Billie Wheatley, Chanute; two sons, Garrett Talmadge Wheatley and Joseph Earl Wheatley, both of Ankeny, Iowa; a daughter, Nicole Aretta Wheatley, Ankeny, Iowa; two brothers, Ed Wheatley and his wife, Linda, Lawrence, Tom Wheatley and his wife, Becci, of Chanute; a sister, Ann Marie Smith, Chanute.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at the First Presbyterian Church in Chanute.
Memorials in his name may be made to Corner House, 418 Market Street, Emporia, KS 66801 and/or his children and may be left with the funeral home.
