Shirley Lee Johnson, 65, Chanute, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at the Chanute Health Care Center.

Shirley was born in St. Paul on Sept. 10, 1946, the daughter of Kenneth and Betty Cox Trumbull. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1964 and received an Associate’s Degree from Chanute Junior College in 1973.

She was united in marriage to Richard Johnson on Dec. 27, 1989 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Shirley worked as a para-professional at Chanute High School for eight years.

She was an avid bridge player and loved to play scrabble, word games and cards.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Richard, of the home; her mother, Betty Trumbull, Chanute; two sons, Paxton Lopeman, Lawrence, and Preston Lopeman and his wife, Jamie, Kechi; one grandson, Jayton Lopeman; four stepgrandchildren, Kaitlin Holland, Dakota Holland, Karsin Holland and Carmen Russell; two sisters, Patricia Ford and Lana Douglas, both of Chanute; and a brother, Mike Trumbull, Humboldt.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Trumbull.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute. Burial will follow at Shaw Cemetery.

The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel.

Memorials in her name may be made to Southern Care Hospice of Pittsburg, and may be left with the funeral home.
