Robert L. “Bob” Colborn, 86, LaHarpe, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Bob was born July 26, 1925, on a farm north of Kiowa, the son of Frank and Grace VanHuss Colborn. He graduated from Medicine Lodge High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Bob married Norma Duncan and they lived in the Thayer area before divorcing. He and Mary Eckert were married and made their home in Erie until retiring and moving to Wellington. She preceded him in death in 1999. Bob has made his home in LaHarpe for the past 10 years.

Bob worked as a farm hand for several farmers over the years and then worked 17 years for Blair Trailer Company before retiring.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Iola.

Survivors include two sons, Robert “Bob” Colborn, LaHarpe, and Roger Colborn, Weir; a daughter, Annette “Toni” Stagg, Gardner; three brothers, Jack Colborn, Chanute, Kenneth Colborn and Donald Colborn, both of Salina; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister and four brothers, Harold, Jerry, Lester and Russell Colborn.

Graveside service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22 at Sumner Memorial Gardens at Wellington. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Iola.

Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church and may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, in charge of arrangements.
