Carol J. Morris, 78, died Sunday, July 27, 2008, in her home after a short illness.

She was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Arkansas City to Floyd and Mabel Stone. She attended Arkansas City schools, graduating in 1947.

She married Donald L. Morris on Feb. 7, 1948.

While in Humboldt, Carol worked for the Unified School District 258 as clerk for the Board of Education until her retirement. After her retirement, the couple spent winters in Rockport, Texas.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Steve and Brenda, Humboldt, Cathlyn Barnett, Overland Park, and Charles “Chuck” and Roxanne, Piqua; five grandsons, John Morris, Seneca, Ind., Russ Barnett, Overland Park, Andrew Morris, Indianapolis, Ind., Jesse and Luke Morris, both of Humboldt; two granddaughters, Ginger Elliott, Kansas City, and Kasie Herman, Gardner; seven great-grandchildren with the eighth grandchild coming this fall; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Marlene Morris, Arkansas City; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Cleo Maddox, Bethany, Okla.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. on Friday at Humboldt Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or the Allen County Hospice and may be left with the funeral home.
