Evelyn P. Kelly, 90, Chanute, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011 at her home.

Evelyn was born in Piper, Kan., on Sept. 7, 1921, the daughter of Christian and Laura Kenton Poulson. She graduated from Piper High School in 1939 and attended the College of Emporia earning an Associate’s Degree in business.

She was united in marriage to Merle Kelly on April 22, 1944 in Kansas City, Kan. He preceded her in death in 1993.

She was a homemaker.

Evelyn was an avid golfer and bridge player and loved and enjoyed her family.

She is survived by her children, Janet Marie Kelly, Laguna Niguel, Calif., James Patrick Kelly, Stilwell, Richard Michael Kelly, Chanute, Daniel Thomas Kelly, Chanute, and Rita K. Golay, Chanute; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and a sister, Marie Wendt, Salina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merle, two sisters, Virginia Bruggeman and Helen Mills, and one brother, Leonard Poulson

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

The family will receive friends this evening at 6 p.m. at the church followed by Rosary at 7 p.m.

Memorials in her name may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic School and may be left with the funeral home.
