David Theodore King, 56, Erie, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Labette Health. His death followed a short illness, but was unexpected.
He was born Dec. 31, 1952 at Chillicothe, Mo., a son of William Raymond Dorothy Ellis King. He moved at an early age with his family to Stark where he lived until he was in high school. He served one year in the First Cavalry Div. of the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. In his early twenties, he returned to the Chanute area. He worked 35 years as a truck driver and owned his own trucks. In 2006 he began employment with the Quest Cherokee where he was currently working.
He and Loretta A. Vincent were united in marriage on May 20, 1988 at Stark.
He was a member of the Friends Church at Stark.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Jason King, of the home; his mother, Dorothy King, Kingsford Heights, Ind.; four brothers, Dale King, Wamego, Terry King, Stark, Tim Morris, El Dorado, Matthew King, Stark; four sisters, Kay Schultz, Kingsford Heights, Ind., Angie Harris, Chanute, Tracy Morris, Chanute, Billie Jo Reddick, Chanute.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Raymond King, and three brothers.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at the Friends Church at Stark. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
