Jim L. Looney, 60, Thayer, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 at his home in Thayer. Graveside memorial service will be held in Kinsley at 11 a.m. April 21 in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Jim was born in Dodge City, to Leonard and Annabelle Killingsworth Looney. He attended Ford High School and graduated in 1971. Jim later attended Wichita Welding School and received his Welding Certificate and later found employment with Midwest Minerals as a truck driver.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank and Rosie Looney, Edward and Viola Killingsworth, two nephews Matt and Chris Poeverlein, a sister-in-law LaDonna Looney, one brother-in-law Brian Utley, and a very special Uncle Bobby Killingsworth.
Survivors include his parents, two brothers, Lee Looney and wife, Barb, Kinsley, Randy Looney, Kinsley; three sisters, Roseanna Poeverlein and husband, Bill, Thayer, Brenda Rowley and husband, Joe, Wichita, and Vicki Rowe and husband, Jimmy, Ponca City, Okla.; 12 nieces and nephews and 19 great-nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel, 306 West Main, Independence.
