Opal slept away peacefully January 11, 2012 at Medicalodge Post Acute Care Center, Kansas City, KS. Funeral Services will be at Thayer, KS Christian Church, January 14, 2012 at 10:00 A.M.

Opal was born August 27, 1925 to Acel and Myrtle Green Price at a farm in rural Galesburg, KS. She grew up on the family farm and started school at Prairie Queen School located on the farm. She was a graduate of Chanute High School and received a beauty operator’s license from a school in Wichita. She operated a shop in Woodward, OK. During World War II, she worked as a riveter on bomber aircraft at Boeing in Wichita. She returned to the farm to raise her young son and cattle. All the while, she was a very successful sales person selling numerous home products at house parties. Notable among them were Artex fabric paints, where she won a new Ford for greatest sales and as Unit Leader with Stanley Home Products and Fuller Brush for over 50 years. She also worked in the dietary department at Neosho Memorial Hospital until she retired in 1990. After retirement she left the farm and relocated to Altoona, KS. Opal and her parents were initial supporters of the Thayer Amateur Hour in 1935. Her dad fiddled while Opal socialized. She worked timelessly to keep it alive and attended several Saturday nights, the last year. For the past three years, she has lived in assisted living facilities in Chanute, Overland Park and Kansas City, KS. She is predeceased by her parents and her son, Lynn D. Ging. Opal is survived by Granddaughters Sherry McKinley, Coffeyville and Brandy Nelson, Chanute, great-grandsons Layne McKibbon and Trevor Fields, great-granddaughters Kiersten Fields and Felony Nelson, Cousins, Harold L. Green and Albert Lee Crouch of Kansas City, KS, Galen L. Price, Newton, Donald Green, Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Thomas Green, Buckingham, CO.
