Rosemary R. “Rosie” Shackelford-Grandestaff, 81, Hutchinson, formerly of Walnut, died Friday, August 1, 2008, at Pleasantview Home in Inman.

She was born May 28, 1927, in Arlington to Clifton C. and Alpha E. Pennington Shackelford and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1945.

She served in the Civil Air Patrol during World War II and was a member of the Naval Reserve for four years.

She was employed as supervisor with Contel/Verizon Telephone Co.

She was a member of United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Lyndee Abbott, Hutchinson; a sister, Margie Zimmerman, Hutchinson; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Wesley, Walter, Robert and Dale Shackelford; and a sister, Margaret Austin.

Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.
