Pauline Perez, 96, Humboldt, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola, after becoming ill at her home.

Pauline was born June 20, 1915, in Neodesha, the daughter of Augustine and Calletana Alonzo Gutierrez.

She married Felix Perez on Dec. 31, 1932, in Chanute,. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Pauline was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Humboldt.

She was an avid cook, a strong advocate for animals, and dearly loved her family, the Kansas City Royals, and KU basketball.

Pauline is survived by her three children, Lupe Perez, Juanita “Jennie” Donnelly, and Polo Perez, all of Humboldt; a sister, Inez Dela Cruz, Iola; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and foster grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, an infant son, and a son, Raymond Perez, four brothers, Bill Gutierrez, Andy Gutierrez, Phillip Gutierrez, and Rosario Gutierrez, and one sister, Vadista Mendoza.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan, 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt.

Memorial contributions in Pauline’s honor may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Allen County Animal Rescue Foundation (ACARF) and may be left with the funeral home.
