Vi Chapman, 81, a longtime resident of Fredonia, and more recently of Ottawa, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe. She was born July 8, 1930 in Protection, the daughter of Peter and Bessie Thomas Ratzlaff.

On June 15, 1951 in Independence, Vi was united in marriage to Kenneth C. Chapman. He preceded her in death Feb, 21, 2001.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Sims, Fredonia; a sister, Rose Ratzlaff, Neodesha; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her companion and his son, Frank Fritts and John Fritts.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at Timmons Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Koger/Cheatham Cemetery south of Fredonia. The family will receive friends this evening, 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
