Virgil LeRoy “Bud” Shaw, 79, Erie, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village at St. Paul.
Bud was born on Feb. 16, 1932 the son of Marie and James Simonson and Mildred and Virgil A. Shaw.
On Feb. 21, 1953, he married his Erie High School sweetheart, Norma Jean Brasier. After high school he spent four years in the U.S. Army Airborne and the next 20 years as vice-president of a retail store, David’s in Wichita. Following David’s, Bud worked in advertising and as a truck driver.
Survivors include two sons, Virgil Alan Shaw, Carthage, Mp., and William Lowell Shaw, Edmond, Okla.; and three grandsons; and dear relatives, Chet Brown and Ginger Wolken, Erie.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. today, Jan. 25 in the Federated Church at Erie. Inurnment will follow in the East Hill Cemetery with military honors conducted by George L. Hendricks Post No. 10 2 American Legion of Erie. Memorials are suggested to the Federated Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home 303 N.
