Linda Sue Carter, 60, Chanute, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Linda was born in Chanute on Jan. 26, 1952, the daughter of Jim and Martha “Ann” VanVickle Carter. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1970.
Linda was a purchasing manager for Nu Wa in Chanute for 25 plus years.
She enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with her nieces and nephews, who she considered as her own children. She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Chanute.
Linda is survived by her parents, Jim and Martha “Ann” Carter, Chanute; two sisters, Beth Chaney, Chanute, and Kathy Brooks and husband, Tony, Chanute; one brother, Vance Carter and lifelong partner Paula Olson, Humboldt; three nephews, Jason Chaney and wife, Kristina, Cincinnati, Ohio, Phil Chaney and wife, Jayci, Chanute, and Chris Brooks, Alva, Okla.; one niece, Tracy McDonald and husband, Mac, Chanute; several great-nieces and nephews; and grandmother, Helen Carter, Chanute.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb, 11 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chanute.
The family will receive friends on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the VFW Post #1654.
Memorials in her name may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and may be left with the funeral home.
