Doris K. Johnson, 85, Humboldt, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Moran Manor, Moran.

Doris was born in Coffeyville, the daughter of Colonel and Miriam Gabel Kindrick.

She was united in marriage with Fred Carlton Johnson on Dec. 21, 1947 in Coffeyville. He preceded her in death in July, 2001.

Doris attended Coffeyville public schools and Pittsburg State University, earning a degree in education.

Doris served the community as a substitute teacher and as a clerk for the subsidized housing program in Humboldt.

She enjoyed her bowling outings and bridge club.

She is survived by her son, Greg Johnson, Simi Valley, Calif.; her daughter, Pamela Richards, Wales, United Kingdom; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and another soon to come.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Lucille Heady, Georgia Dunwoody and Margaret Windle, a brother, Robert Kindrick, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Richards.

Funeral will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Humboldt United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.

Private family burial will take place Monday at Restlawn Cemetery, Coffeyville.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association. These may be left in care of the funeral home.
