Jack Junior Newman, 83, of Chanute, died Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Jack was born on Sept. 17, 1924 in Bartlesville, Okla., the son of Elmer Jack and Lila M. Cummings Newman.

He was a produce manager in food sales.

Jack is survived by two nephews, Ronald Newman and his wife. Belinda. of Augusta, and Tim Newman of Wichita; a niece, Julie Stafford and her husband, Terry, of Heber Springs, Ark.; a sister-in-law Mary Copeland of Wichita; and great-nieces and nephews, Becky, Nikki and Shelli Newman; Whitney and Sommer Stafford; great-great-nieces and nephews, Halli and Kyleigh Knollenberg and Kamron Newman; and special friends, Steve and Vicky, and Joan Curtis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-nephew Wesley Stafford.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 11 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, Okla.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 until 3 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Gideons Society and may be left with the funeral home.
