Elvin H. “Red Lakin,” 96, longtime resident of the Fall River and New Albany area, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Lakepoint of Augusta. He was born March 25, 1912 in Wynnewood, Okla., the son of Isaac and Elizabeth Wyatt Lakin.

He was a self-employed farmer and worked as a custodian for the Fall River schools.

On May 31, 1930 in Eureka, he married Amy Ethel Worford. She preceded him in death July 25, 1973.

Survivors include three son, Bill Lakin, Leon, Dick Lakin, El Dorado, Ron Lakin, Augusta; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sons, Charles, Rex, Roy and Bob.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 12 at the Fredonia City Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name with Red River Community Building Fund and may be sent to Timmons Funeral Home, P.O. Box 168, Fredonia, KS 66736.
