Dorothy L. Trout, 92, a former Galesburg and Parsons resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 at the Heritage Healthcare Center in Chanute.

She was born on Oct. 25, 1919 Viborg, S.D., to David and Mary Ellen Clary Milks. She moved to Parsons at age two where the family lived east of Parsons and then moved to rural Galesburg when the Kansas Ordnance Plant was established. She attended Parsons High School.

She and Leland R. Trout were married on April 4, 1939 at Oswego. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1982.

She and her husband farmed for many years at rural Galesburg. She moved to Parsons a couple years after her husband’s death.

She loved to garden, make birthday cakes and cards. She was active in SCOOP and TOPS in Parsons.

Her survivors include two sons, Leland Duane Trout and his wife, Donna, Chanute, and Donald Trout and his wife, Sharon, Chanute; two grandchildren, Darren Trout and his wife, Nancy, Thayer, and Angie Hess and her husband, Doug, Lecompton; seven great-grandchildren; Cheyenne Trout, Dakota Trout, Madison Hess, Hunter Hess, Shelby Trout, Sydney Trout, and Sabry Trout; one granddaughter-in-law, Wendy Trout, Chanute; and her sister, Betty Gearhiser, Parsons.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Margaret Louise “Peggy” Trout, two grandsons, Jeff Trout and Greg Trout, a brother Ernest Milks, and a sister, Gwendola Cramer

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The casket will remain closed at the service.
