Mary Haines, 82, Chanute, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Mary was born on August 13, 1929 in Linden, N. J., the daughter of Michael and Anna Luhin Burin.

She was united in marriage to H. Dean Haines on May 17, 1946 in Yates Center. The family moved to Chanute in 1949.

Mary loved reading books and golf. In 1968 she got a hole-in-one at the Chanute Country Club.

Mary worked as a bookkeeper for the City of Chanute and Murtin Jeanes Oil Company.

Along with her husband Dean, Mary is survived by two sons, Ranndy L. Haines and his wife, Shirley, Chanute, Kerry D. Haines, Chanute; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Michael Burin.

Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Chanute.

Memorials in her name may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice and may be left with the funeral home.

Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
