The Rev. Robert L. “Bob” Coppage, 87, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 at Delaware Highlands in Kansas City, Kan., where he was living.¬†Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kan. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 10 until 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.¬†

Rev. Coppage was born Nov. 1, 1924 in Chanute, to Walter P. and Sadie R. Easlick Coppage, and had lived in the Chicago area, before moving to Kansas City 55 years ago. He held many different jobs over the years, including preaching the gospel at New Cross Baptist Church, which was his church in Kansas City, but he had most recently worked for the Rock Island Railroad, from which he retired in the 1970s. He was an Army veteran, serving in France and the Philippine Islands during World War II. He was also a member of Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kan.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Coppage of Arkansas; his children, Kerwin Coppage, Snellville, Ga., Sandra Ladipo, Clarkson, Ga., and Lyle Coppage, Moberly, Mo.; his stepsons, Reggie Sharpe and Rodney Sharpe, both of Ohio; his brother, Morris Coppage, Kansas City, Mo.; his sister, Eunice Thomas, Kansas City, Mo,; and three grandchildren.
