Charlene Loree Boman, 86, Iola, died Monday, August 11, 2008, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola.

She was born Dec. 9, 1921, in LaHarpe to Charles B. and Hazel E. Kirkpatrick Limes.

She grew up in LaHarpe. She graduated from LaHarpe High School and Iola Junior College with her degree in teaching. On May 10, 1944, she married Richard L. “Dick” Boman at Chanute Field, Ill. After her husband’s honorable discharge from the service, they made their home in Salina where she worked for the Civil Service. They moved to Sunray, Texas, before moving to Iola in 1959. She worked as a bookkeeper for Midwest Vending, Inc., for 24 1/2 years. She later worked as a door greeter for the Wal-Mart Store in Iola. Mr. Boman died Dec. 13, 2001.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Iola and had been a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Charlene enjoyed reading, knitting and embroidery and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Saving and husband John, Chanute, and Martha McKinney and husband Chris, Chanute; two grandchildren, Aubrey Gillespie, Humboldt, and Kyle Saving and wife Cheryl, Carthage, Mo.; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 at First Baptist Church, Iola with Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk officiating. Burial will follow at Moran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
