Lupe Zaragosa Cook, 90, Chanute, died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Chanute Healthcare in Chanute.

Lupe was born in Chanute on Feb. 20, 1922, the daughter of Guadalupe and Jaunita Jimenez. In 1941 she married Pedro Zaragosa in Chanute. He preceded her in death in 1961. She later married George Cook in 1976 and he preceded her in death in 1992.

She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Lupe is survived by one son, Danny Zaragosa, Chanute; one daughter, Virginia Olmstead and husband, Gary, Baldwin City; four grandchildren, Angela Borjas and husband, Rueben, Gardner, Gilbert Ponce and wife, Karin, Wellsville, Paula Moore and husband, Tim, Lacygne, and Nancy Starliper, Savonburg; 14 great-grandchildren, Michael Borjas and wife, Meghann, Gardner, Robert Borjas and wife, Sharaya, Gardner, Joshua Moore, Olathe, Emily, Jessica, Adam, and Amanda Moore of Lacygne, Victoria, Daniella, William Ponce of Wellsville, Windi Froelich, Julie Hays, Chad Starliper, and Meagan Starliper of Savonburg; six great-great-grandchildren, Jayce, Alonzo, Camden, Amiah, and Iliana Borjas of Gardner, and Chad Starliper, Jr., Savonburg; and one sister, Mary Gutierrez Chanute.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two grandsons, Theodore Ponce, Jr., and John Starliper, one great-grandson, Gilbert Ray Ponce, Jr., and five brothers, John Jimenez, William Jimenez, Cruz Jimenez, Lalo Jimenez and Steven Jimenez.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 15 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:30 until 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute.

Memorials in her name may be made to St. Patrick School and may be left with the funeral home.
