Word has been received of the death of Kenneth Jobe Jackson, 71, Kansas City, Kan.
He was born March 4, 1941 in Emporia. He then moved to Chanute in 1951 at the age of 10. He attended Chanute schools and graduated in 1960. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam. He received many commendations while serving his country.
He retired in Fort Dix, N.J. as a Sgt. First Class (E-7) on April 12, 1977. He then began a career with the United States Postal Service where he retired on March 4, 2005.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irmgard Jackson, sister Carolyn Ambler and brother Ike Jones, and both parents, Ike and Virginia Jones.
He is survived by daughters, Dana Cheney Dawn and husband, Rick, Deanette Cheney, Iola, Regina Washington, San Bernardino, Calif.; sister, JoAnna Garner, Kansas City, Kan.; and nephews, Brandon Garner and wife, Tracie, and Dane Ambler, both of Kansas City, Kan.
