Shirley Jean Ludlum Shultz, 65, Cedar Vale, died at her home Sunday, March 18, 2012. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, March 22 at the Church of Christ in Cedar Vale. A graveside service will also be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Elsmore Cemetery, Elsmore.

Shultz was born Feb. 15, 1947, to Arthur and Maggie Laver Ludlum at Doctor Neffitt’s office in Moran. She attended Prairie Hall Grade School and Moran Grade School. She graduated in May of 1965 from Moran High School. Shirley then went to Kansas City, Mo., to a business college where she received a degree in business.

Shirley worked at the general offices of Western Auto for 18 months before moving back to the Moran area. She then worked about three years for the Neosho Valley Creamery in Erie. After raising her family she worked for Walmart in Blackwell, Okla., and Winfield.

Shirley married Marvin Shultz at the family farm on May 9, 1971. They lived in Neodesha before moving to Nowata, Okla., and eventually settling in Braman, Okla., for 16 years where she raised her family. The couple then moved to the Winfield area and have lived the last 10 years in Cedar Vale.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin, Cedar Vale; children, Edward Shultz and wife, Kelle, Blackwell, Okla.; Annette Dean and husband, Chad, Madison; Vicki Brewer and husband, John, Columbia, Mo.; brothers Alfred Ludlum, Rozel, Howard Ludlum, Lone Elm, Gary Ludlum, LaHarpe; sister, Delores Ludlum Goyette, Americus; and nine grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
