Paul E. “Pete” Hibbs, 80, rural Elsmore, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at Windsor Place Nursing Center, Iola.

He was born April 2, 1928, in Elsmore to James Leo and Eva Lena Johnson Hibbs. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1946. He farmed northwest of Elsmore.

He married Bonnie L. Gillham Haban on Dec. 21, 1971, in Craig County, Okla. She died May 24, 1996.

Survivors include a nephew, Kenneth James Hibbs, Ottawa; a niece, Sharon Scarrow, Humboldt; and a great-niece and great-nephew, SheRee and Ryan Scarrow.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin Curtis Hibbs.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elsmore Cemetery under the direction of Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola.

Contributions may be made in Mr. Hibbs’ name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
