Carole Lynette Payne, 44, Bolivar, passed away Friday, August 15, 2008, at Colonial Springs Healthcare Facility in Buffalo, Mo.
She was born Sept. 25, 1963, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of Larry Reed and Linda Brown Reed. Granddaughter to Jake and Neta Reed and Virgil and Margarite Brown.
She grew up in Bolivar, then moved to the Joplin area from there they moved to Chanute. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1981. She made her home in the Bolivar area and worked for Shell Title Company before going to work at Polk County Assessors office from Sept. 1, 1989, until Aug. 1, 2008.
She married Jamie Lee Payne on June 11, 1988, in Halfway on her grandpa and grandma Brown’s farm.
She enjoyed spending time with her pets, her dog Rocky, and her cats. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, going to the races, but most of all she enjoyed her family and friends. She was a giving and caring person.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother, Linda Reed, sister Lesile Reed, father-in-law Sidney Payne and one cousin, Pat Good.
Surviving is her husband of 20 years, Jamie of the home; special nieces, Stephanie Ann Wright and fiancée Curtis Jones, and Mariah Shanks; a special nephew, Stephen Michael Reed; her father, Larry Reed, and step-mom, Kathy Mitchell, Willard, Mo.; two brothers, Greg Reed, Chanute, and Chad Reed, Springfield, Mo.; three step-brothers, Eric, John and Adam Headly; a step-sister, Tia Headly; her mother-in-law, Helen Payne; sisters-in-law, Pam and Tori Payne; nieces Tera and Shelli Reed, Automn, Summer Benning; nephews, Eric Reed and Tommy Lee Benning; many aunts, uncles, cousins and family member and friends.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Jack Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Schofield Cemetery southeast of Halfway under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Casketbearers will be Joe D. Payne, Chad Reed, Greg Reed, Randy Reed, Craig Shanks and Eric Reed.
