Elsie May Jennings, 92, rural Altoona, died at her home Friday, April 13, 2012. Elsie was born May 19, 1919 in rural Lyon County near Admire, the daughter of Carl John and Amy Adelle Ingraham Boline.
Elsie completed the 8th grade at her rural school. After moving to Topeka to work, she attended night school, earning her high school diploma. She then attended Stormont Vail School of Nursing where she graduated as a registered nurse. On Sept. 28, 1957, Elsie married Newton E. Jennings Jr., in Topeka. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 2001.
Elsie was a member of the Wamego United Methodist Church. The last few years Elsie attended Living Word Assembly in Chanute.
Elsie’s survivors include local nephews, Forrest Knox, of Altoona, Dale Small of Chanute.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 18, at 10 a.m. at Living Word Assembly in Chanute. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service time at the church.
