Ruth M. Serrato, 87, Chanute, died Friday, August 15, 2008, at her home.
She was born Oct. 22, 1920, in Chanute to Albino and Mary Negrete Abaloz. She attended public schools in Chanute.
She married Alfred O. Serrato on Nov. 1, 1947, in Erie. He survives.
She was a homemaker.
Other survivors include three sons, William J. Gutierrez and Richard Serrato, both of Chanute, and John Serrato and his wife. Pat, Independence, Mo.; two daughters, Gloria Serrato Ysusi, Kansas City, Kan., and Rita Serrato De La Torre, Chanute; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Hope Padilla, Kansas City, Kan.; and a brother, Ted Abaloz, Australia.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, a sister, a daughter and two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Contributions to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church may be left with the funeral home.
