Alan Vaughn Hilsabeck, 65, of Belton, Mo., peacefully entered eternal life at home on Wednesday, January 28, 2009.

Alan was born on April 6, 1943 in Coffeyville and graduated from Carthage High School in 1961.

He was a retired Master Sergeant with 21 years and 10 months in the United States Air Force.

He became active in local politics and served as an Alderman for the City of Belton from 1994-1996.

Alan is survived by his wife Cathy of Belton, Mo.; his father, Woody of the Beautiful Savior Home and Manor, Belton, Mo.; a son, Alan Jr. and his wife Beth of Flower Mound, Texas; and grandchildren, Tyler, Lubbock, Texas, and Tanner and Katelyn of Flower Mound, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mickey and his brother, Roger.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 at the Crossroads United Methodist Church in Belton, Mo.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2009 from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.

Memorials in his name may be made to The American Liver Foundation, Grace Hospice, or Crossroads United Methodist Church and may be left with the funeral home.

Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel, Chanute, Kansas, is in charge of arrangements.
