Mark Randall Sewell, 49, Fredonia, formerly of Texas, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born June 5, 1962 in Independence, the son of Donald and Myrtle Frye Sewell. Mark was a 1980 graduate of Tulsa Union High School and attended Independence Community College. He was a disabled combat veteran.

On June 9, 2000, in Eureka Springs, Ark,, Mark was united in marriage to Linda Rassman. Linda survives at their home.

Mark was a veteran of the peacetime and Gulf War era, serving in the United States Army Ranger Special Service, SP4.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Linda, include his father, Don Sewell, Fredonia; two sons, Bryan Sewell, Olathe, Garrett Sewell, Michigan; one daughter, Hailey Sewell, Michigan; two brothers, Steven Sewell, Texas City, Texas, David Sewell, El Dorado; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

His mother, Myrtle Sewell, preceded him in death.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3 at the First United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment will be in the Altoona Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Mark’s name with Disabled American Veterans and contributions can be sent to the Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS, 66736.
