Carl Robert Richardson, 71, of Chanute, entered the arms of Jesus at 12:30 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 31, 1940 in El Dorado, KS, the son of James Christian and Lucile (Anderson) Richardson.
Carl graduated from Berryville High School, Berryville, Arkansas, following three years of high school at The School of the Ozarks. After graduation he worked in the office machines business for 20 years before working for GEO Churchill in Chanute. In 1997 he began working for Cleavers Farm & Home Supply.
Carl was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chanute, an active member of Mirza Shrine Unit where he served as Chaplain and Treasurer; a member of the Shriners Hospital Dads, and a long time member of the Mirza MG Unit.
Carl was known for his quick wit, his resourcefulness, and his joy in helping friends and family. He treasured his active and loving family, summers spent at the cabin in Montana, time spent with friends, and his dog Pepe. He enjoyed playing golf, being active in miscellaneous repairs for family and friends, and playing practical jokes. Carl was a caring man with a big heart and a love for the Lord.
On March 19, 1994 he married Laura “Jane” Carlson. She survives of the home. He is also survived by daughter, Kim Liggans and husband, Larry, Grove, OK, her children, Ben, Nick and Samantha; daughter, Shelly Tredway and husband, Cale, Erie, KS, their children Kaci and husband Brad, Kyle and wife, Erin, Kaleb and Kody; son, Jeff and wife, Victoria, Aurora, CO, their children Tommy, Tyler, Maddie and Trent; Charlene (Richardson) Coombs, the mother of his children; daughter, Laura Michelle Thieman and husband, Nick, Branson, MO, their children, Trevor, Tanner, Kelli and Darian; and daughter, Nicole Carlson of Austin, TX; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Vern Richardson, Berryville, Arkansas, and Lee Richardson and wife, Lovella, Knoxville, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Tina Carlson Kress.
Following cremation memorial services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Chanute. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery at Erie. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church in Chanute from 6:00-8:00 Tuesday evening.
