George Thomas “Buddy” Ibbetson, 92, lifelong resident of rural Buffalo, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington. He was born Oct. 13, 1916 on the Ibbetson farm northwest of Buffalo, the son of George Frederick and Chestine Elizabeth Kennedy Ibbetson. He attended West Buffalo District 28 grade school and graduated in 1934 from Buffalo High School.

He was a farmer and rancher for 75 years, retiring in 2000.

He attended the United Methodist Church in Buffalo, New York Valley Church, Yates Center, and the Jehovah Witness Church, Chanute.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Weide. His only survivors are nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6 at Buffalo Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name with the Humane Society and may be sent to Timmons Funeral Home, P.O. Box 168, Fredonia, KS 66736.
